"These guys are absolutely amazing! Tami's customer service is unmatched and they really care about what's going on with you. I called and they were able to come out the same day! I was on tight time restraints and needed the work done right away. They came after hours and worked late night just so I could meet my deadlines!!!! So when I say amazing, I MEAN AMAZING. Thank you guys soooooooo much for everything!!!"
"I found this company by chance and by reading reviews. I do not typically leave reviews but these people are so pleasant to work with, and have been so helpful beyond their job description. Tammy is a pleasure, she was helpful from the start and made sure to follow-up each step of the way offering any help she could. Michael was just as helpful during the inspection, offering advice and suggestions. I recommend this company over and over."
"Indoor Air Quality went above and beyond on the quality of their inspection and detailed recommendations reflecting the results. Bill tested the air quality in our new home during our quick due diligence period and personally took the samples to the lab so the results could be expedited on our behalf. Michael called to discuss the results and recommendations with me and was able to clearly explain the findings without overwhelming me with scientific jargon. His recommendations were extremely helpful, not only in the purchase of our new home, but for the health and safety of my family for many years to come. I highly recommend this team and will be using them again whenever I need air quality testing. Thanks Indoor Air Quality for a job well done!"
Hi, My name is Michael Medley, owner of Indoor Air Quality Services.
Many years ago, when I first started working in the indoor air quality field, my oldest daughter was diagnosed with childhood asthma and had to use a nebulizer to help reduce symptoms.
At the time I was a novice in the industry; but was curious about whether there was a correlation between my daughter’s symptoms and the air quality in our home.
In addition to there being high mold spore counts for high probability allergen mold spores, counts for other particulate allergens were elevated and insulation was in the indoor air.
After testing the carpet, I learned that mold growth in the carpet was a contributing factor to poor air quality. The heating and air system was leaky, resulting in moldy, dirty air in a crawlspace being blown into our home.
After removing all the carpet in the home, repairing the heating and air system, and a few other activities, my daughter’s symptoms diminished, and she no longer needed the nebulizer.
What everyone needs to know about indoor air quality…
According to the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), U.S. CDC, 1999, over half of an estimated 20 million Americans suffering from asthma are more specifically cases of “allergic-asthma.”
Allergic asthmatic symptoms occur because of inhaling allergens such as mold spores, pollen, and dust mites.
It is estimated that 90% of childhood asthma symptoms occur because of exposure to allergens.
Allergic rhinitis is an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways. It occurs when allergens such as mold spores, pollen, dust, skin fragments, or insulation are inhaled.
It is estimated that Allergic Rhinitis affects approximately 60 million people in the United States.
According to the EPA, most Americans spend over 90% of their time indoors.
Environmental testing indicates that pollutants within homes are 2-5 times levels in the outside air.
Though I cannot know for certain whether your symptoms occur as a result allergens and toxins in your home, you have nothing to lose by improving your indoor air quality, and it’s possible that your respiratory health symptoms may either diminish or completely go away.
Typically, when health symptoms occur, most of us either take over-the-counter medication, or eventually see a doctor if symptoms don’t go away. Our customers typically begin doing their own research to find answers about their symptoms when all else fails. Eventually they find out that it’s possible to have their home inspected and tested for allergens and toxins.
Unfortunately, many who seek professional help to address poor indoor air quality don’t know what to expect when hiring an air quality or mold inspection company. Quality and scope of work varies significantly from company to company.
Often after services are rendered, the customer has no way of knowing for certain whether a problem has been overstated or if they have been given a false sense of security.
According to Homeadvisor.com, the average cost of a mold or indoor air quality inspection is $644. Customer wants to know whether there is an air quality problem, and if so, why it’s happening, how to stop it from continuing, and how to remove pollutants from their home.
Very few indoor air quality and mold inspection companies provide this information. Typically, they provide lab results and a poorly written explanation. Most of the time after spending significant sums, the customer is left to figure it out on their own or continue to suffer.
Air quality problems occur due to poor circulation, filtration, temperature and humidity management, infiltration of bad air from an attic, and the list goes on and on. Often, there are several factors occurring at once in our customers’ homes, all of which contribute to overall poor air quality.
The truth is that unless you are willing to learn about your home and make improvements based upon observations, you will probably not resolve your air quality problems.
For instance, addressing indoor air quality problems is nothing like addressing an electrical problem. Electrical repairs do not require the customer to understand why it no longer works or how it’s repaired. One only needs to call an electrician and tell the electrician what doesn’t work. Repairs are made and the problem is resolved.
A building may need a combination of drainage repairs, removal of building materials, heating and air system repairs, or other work activities to stabilize indoor air conducive to preventing the buildup of indoor allergens.
Unfortunately, it’s rare to find an indoor air quality or mold inspection company that will identify many of the contributing factors to poor indoor air quality.
It’s difficult to find someone who:
understands air quality,
will thoroughly inspect your home,
will document recommendations informed by observations,
and will explain everything to you in layman’s terms.
Even if you are fortunate enough to find such a person or company, you still must play an active role in understanding and implementing recommendations.
For these reasons, it’s best to do it yourself and save money in the process.
However, you need to know how to do it.
After having performed a few thousand indoor air quality inspections over the past fifteen years, we decided to create a more efficient and affordable way to help more people understand how to avoid health symptoms and improve their indoor air quality.

Keys to Healthier Indoor Air: Most of what you’ll learn about how to improve your indoor air quality equates to 5th grade life science and physics. Indoor Environmental Testing: There are many ways to measure your air quality. In this section you’ll learn about the most common methods for measuring the pollutants most found in homes. This way, if you do need testing, you'll know in advance what you should receive for your money.

Explanations and worksheets will guide you through the process of identifying root causes of air quality problems in your home. If you need to hire a company to make repairs, you will be more confident and less likely to be taken advantage of.

This section helps you understand how to protect yourself and others from pollutants disturbed while the removal process occurs.
